I have to be honest – I’ve never been a fan of oil. No, not the cooking variety; come on, EVERY one loves fried food! But jokes apart, oil massages – whether for hair or body  – have always made me cringe since childhood. Maybe it’s the sticky feeling combined with the awful smell, which, by the way, doesn’t completely vanish after one shower; I’ve always tried to avoid the application of oil as much as possible (much to my mother’s dismay, of course). However, as I grew up, I befriended hair products and colours and THAT meant I had to bury the hatchet with my old frenemy, oil. I started applying it more often to my hair, albeit only waiting for an hour before washing it (still, it counts).  Though when it came to applying oil all over my skin, I could never get myself to do it (unless the beautician at the salon would slather it all over me without my permission). Then, everything changed when a package arrived in the mail.

I love that brands send me some wonderful products to try on myself and review because this has made me discover a whole new world of brilliant cosmetics, which I would have never tried on my own and been able to share with you all. This is exactly what happened with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil*. I was a bit doubtful about using it, because I generally turn to good old body lotion for skincare, but the fact that the box clearly stated it was non-staining and one could dress immediately after use, I decided to give it a shot. The fact that it is enriched with Vitamin E and the goodness of cocoa butter, the oil also has a pleasant fragrance of cocoa.

I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly my skin absorbed the product, which is exactly what its Cetesomate-E Complex claims to do, and I loved how smooth my skin felt after. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Oil also claims to help with removing scars and stretch marks. This is something that intrigued me because I do suffer from the latter. I’ve never gone through any major weight loss, in fact I’ve been thin all my life, but genetics play a role in causing stretch marks as well. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, though it sure would be nice if they could be lightened somehow.

Anyway, I haven’t seen any drastic reduction in my marks yet, but it’s hardly been 15 days since I started using it. I’m going to give it some more time and keep you posted on that bit (hope you’re following me on Twitter). Otherwise, I think this product is a must-have and I’ve already made it a part of my regular skincare routine!

Rating: 4.5/5

Final verdict: Paraben-free and dermatologically tested, this fast drying, non-greasy formula comes with an easy-to-use pump dispenser that enables mess-free, quick and easy application! You can apply it 3 times daily or, if you’re a sloth like me, just use it right after a shower or before you go to bed. Priced at Rs. 460 for a 60 ml bottle, it’s valid for up to 4 years since the date of manufacture. The oil is a great anti-aging product too and can be used all over your body, including your face! Made in USA, the Cocoa Butter Oil is pure vegetarian and is not tested on animals. The only drawback is the strong fragrance it leaves behind on your skin and clothes, which I personally don’t like very much.
You can purchase it online or buy it from your local beauty store.

*This is NOT a paid review. Palmer’s provided me the lip balm for trial purposes.
