While being stylish and fashionable is important, what’s even more crucial is comfort. If a garment or accessory isn’t comfortable enough, I won’t be able to carry it off with ease. At the end of the day, it all comes down to confidence and, if that’s lacking, what’s the point of dressing up? Quite recently, I came across this particular fabric called LIVA on social media. Soon, I started noticing billboards featuring Kangana Ranaut flaunting LIVA’s “fluid” fabrics. Obviously, this intrigued me even more! Then, on the 24th of October, I was given the opportunity to #UnBoxWithLiva* and get a better understanding of the fabric.
The #UnBoxWithLiva event was held at Bungalow 9 and was graced by various fashion and travel bloggers, RJ Archana Pania, fashion choreographer Shy Kalra, and the LIVA team. The event was hosted by the wonderful and vivacious Freishia Bomanbehram. LIVA prides itself on being new-age and eco-friendly. The idea behind “Unboxing” is to break free from synthetic fabrics and adopt a softer, 100% natural fabric that doesn’t make us feel boxed in, even when we’re having the busiest day possible! The garments showcased at the event ranged from bright printed crop tops and kurtas to more subtle evening wear, like jackets and skirts; all made with LIVA’s comfortable, lightweight material.
One of the prerequisites of the evening was to come dressed in a LIVA outfit (fortunately, no two bloggers wore the same thing), which could be bought at any of the stores LIVA is associated with. I spent the previous afternoon browsing through Global Desi and, thankfully, found the perfect dress within the span of a few minutes. I zeroed in on an Indo-Western black midi dress, which had a white ethnic print. While I generally prefer fitted silhouettes, this shift-style dress came with a string that had tassels on either end – perfect to cinch the garment and highlight my waist. As the tassels added a pop of orange to the outfit, I chose to accessorize with orange and blue earrings and bangles.
If you’re considering living the LIVA way as well, head over to AND, Global Desi, 109°F, Lifestyle, Pantaloons, Desi Belle at Central, Allen Solly, or Van Heusen, to name a few. Look for the pink ‘LIVA’ tag so you too can experience the magic of this easy-breezy, light and comfortable material– I’m fairly certain you’ll love the feel and fit!
