Last month, I was invited by Tissot to attend the revelation of their brand new face in India (besides Deepika Padukone, who has been representing the brand since 2007). The entire build-up to the event was quite exciting as hints were passed around on social media regarding who this new face could be. Every post with the hashtag #ThisIsYourTime only added to my curiosity! Luckily, before the actual event, the Swiss timepiece brand held an exclusive bloggers’ meet with the new ambassador. (Now if you’ve been following me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, I’m sure you already know who it is.)
While we waited for the mystery to be solved, we got the chance to have a tête-à-tête with Maria Ahnebrink, International Communication and PR Manager, Tissot, along with the opportunity to look at and try out their new collections!
As the meet progressed, each one of us were given different pieces of a puzzle: the picture of the brand’s new Indian male ambassador. We tried to solve the puzzle, but to no avail, as the key piece (the face) was missing. And then, someone walked in…
Ace cricketer, Virat Kohli, surprised us all when he entered the room and added the missing piece to solve the puzzle, much to everyone’s delight! The decision to welcome Kohli to the Tissot family was a no-brainer, as the brand has always shared a “deep connection with sports”. The cricketer, who mirrors the Swiss brand’s mastery for breaking new ground and its uncompromising commitment to excellence, also oozes style and confidence that makes him a youth icon and one of India’s biggest heartthrobs (am I right, ladies?)
On this momentous occasion, Virat was presented with Tissot’s classic collection, Chemin des Tourelles, which compliments the company’s vast years of expertise with a contemporary design in an elegant case, serving as the perfect example of the technical know-how Tissot puts into each and every piece!
Furthermore, the brand’s first ever campaign with the cricketer was unveiled, where Kohli can be seen in his cricketing gear, flaunting Tissot’s latest T-Touch Expert Solar. The watch is the first tactile timepiece to be powered by solar energy and comes with 20 in-built essential functions for daily uses, including weather forecast, altimeter, chronograph, and compass, to name a few. The best part is you don’t need sunlight for it to work; any source of light will do! Now that’s what you call an iconic watch for an iconic man from a brand that believes in innovation by tradition!
