Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone

As I mentioned in my last post, I’ve been trying to experiment with my wardrobe choices without compromising on my signature style. Sophisticated, clean pieces in neutral shades are my go-to sartorial picks, but lately I’ve been combining them with more relaxed, casual items.

Earlier, I used to find it strange to wear a t-shirt with a formal pencil skirt, but my opinion completely changed once I actually tried it. The result made me realize how crucial it is to step out of your comfort zone every now and again! Of course, that rule applies to most things in life, so I figured it’s high time I pushed the boundaries a little.

There are certain items in my wardrobe that have a special place in my heart. One of these is a black pleated net midi skirt that I would ideally choose to wear with an equally elegant top. However, while planning looks to shoot this month, I decided to try on a few unusual options with it. After lots of trial and error, there was one combination that clicked. And at once I knew I HAD to share it with you all!

If I could, I’d pair denim shirts with everything possible! They’re casual, comfortable and extremely versatile! Normally, I’d don a crop top and denim shirt with jeans or shorts, but I decided to opt for a more dressy piece this time. You could switch it up by wearing a bright tee with a similar neutral midi skirt or keep it sophisticated with a crisp white shirt.

Metallic details always add a striking edge to any look! Hence, I accessorized the outfit with block heels, gold chandelier earrings, and a statement bracelet and ring.

Coming to the makeup, I wanted to focus on the eyes and try a variation of the regular black and grey smokey eye. I played with hues of pink, dark purple, and gold to achieve this look. For the lips, I stuck to my regular bright pink shade, which I always tone down with a nude lipstick after application. There is also a very subtle hint of peach blush, keeping the day-time look in mind.
