Each one of us goes through various emotions in a single day. No matter how positive or happy you are in general, none of us can escape the occasional blues. One trick that works for me, though, is getting dressed and showing up. I truly believe that fashion has the power to uplift your mood simply by changing your look.

I’ve experienced days with the worst bouts of flu being transformed just because I decided to get up and get dressed instead of sulking in bed. Of course, we all have those few pieces in our wardrobe that we’re extremely fond of. Maybe you own a maxi dress that fits you really well and you love the way it flatters your figure or you have strong memories attached to a silk scarf because of your attachment to the person who gifted it to you. Whatever the reason may be, such items do possess the quality to raise your spirits.

While I do feel this way about certain pieces in my own closet, there is a particular print I often turn to when I need a quick pick-me-up. Florals always manage to make me smile! This is one print that comes back season after season, year after year and still never gets boring.

This year, florals made their appearance in head-to-toe looks with pantsuits and crop top-skirt sets. Bright, day-time colours have been quite popular, but I’m sharing a dressy look in pastels with you all today. This skater dress is one of my favourites and, although I’ve styled it here as an evening look, it can also be worn to a day-time event, for instance, a glam brunch.
