Whoever invented dry shampoo is obviously a genius. It has saved so much time for so many women and continues to be a saviour during emergencies. I’ve been meaning to try it out since over a year now, but was never really sure of what brand to pick up. Being someone who suffers from a greasy scalp, only made worse by Mumbai’s humid weather, dry shampoo should have been a top priority purchase for me. However, I’m quite averse to using sprays and products on my hair – I hardly ever iron it and only started experimenting with hair colour very recently! So after months of contemplation, I finally decided that enough was enough and turned to the salon I blindly trust with my hair: why, BBlunt, of course. The brand launched their own line of hair-care products and I absolutely HAD to try out their dry shampoo.
As this was my first ever tryst with dry shampoo, I wanted to start off with a smaller bottle, which is why I purchased the mini BBlunt Back to Life Dry Shampoo. I must admit I was still quite wary the first time I used it, but the results made me an instant fan. Before applying, all you have to do is shake the bottle well. Then evenly spray the product as close to your roots as possible, whilst keeping it 6 inches away from your hair, and leave it on for about 2 – 5 minutes. After that, just flip your hair upside down and massage your scalp. Flip it back, brush well and you’ll be good to go!
Be careful of one thing though: you might have to wash your hair the next morning itself if it ends up getting too sweaty and grimy by the end of the day. This happened to me – I applied it and went out in extremely hot and humid surroundings which brought back the greasiness.
Oh and there’s another trick you can try (this one’s my go-to secret technique so be careful who you share it with): if you have extra time on your hands and want to fix your greasy scalp, set your hair-dryer to the cool setting and dry your hair all over with the cold air. This doesn’t require any dry shampoo as such, but if it’s still oily after, spray on the product and see the magic!
Final verdict: Priced at Rs. 250 for 30 ml and Rs. 550 for 125 ml, the dry shampoo is worth every penny. It gives you that freshly blow-dried, voluminous look. I wouldn’t recommend making it a habit though. It doesn’t matter which brand you’re using, don’t let dry shampoo replace your regular washing routine. It can cause build-up over time and, if you suffer from dandruff, there are chances it might worsen it. Try using it about 1-2 times a month, max. 3 if it’s an urgent beauty crisis, but avoid otherwise.
