This post has been long overdue. I was unable to upload the images earlier because of some issues with my laptop – I feel like I’m stuck with some perennial technical jinx. Every single time I assume everything will finally function the way it’s supposed to, something or the other goes wrong. But I guess that’s just how life is. We’d probably get too complacent if everything was perfect all the time.
Of course, I’ve been sharing as much as possible on Instagram, so if you follow me on social media, you probably already know what I’ve been up to. To be very honest, it’s not been much, besides work and blog events. These pictures are from my last trip to Dubai (in case you haven’t watched my Dubai vlog yet, check it out right here).
Other than that, I’ve just been having a lot of “aha” moments. It just hit me that I was expending too much energy and time on certain people who clearly didn’t value me. I also realized the true nature of some individuals, who turned out to be the exact opposite of what I imagined them to be, or rather what they pretended to be. It can be heartbreaking, but the sooner you figure it out and walk away, the better it is.
In other news, I rekindled my love for reading, thanks to Sophie Kinsella and Dale Carnegie. Equal doses of fiction and non-fiction make me very happy. Currently, I’m reading ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People,’ which is an excellent read, especially if you’re pursuing PR or marketing. I’m also reading ‘My Not So Perfect Life’ – check it out if you love romantic comedies.
In between, I wasn’t able to record new material for my YouTube channel, but I’ve gradually started doing that again. Shooting and editing videos takes up a huge chunk of my time, but the truth is I truly enjoy doing it, which makes every second worth it! There are days when I think of giving it all up, but I’m lucky enough to have people around who remind me why fashion has always been my true calling.
While my friends and family have been a strong driving force, always supporting me, I’ve learned some valuable lessons thanks to other people from the industry. Mostly, it’s been other bloggers who keep inspiring me with their passion and hard-work, including the newer ones who remind me of how I used to be when I started off. I guess that’s all you need sometimes – other successful and driven people rubbing off their awesomeness on you!
So here I am, going back to the drawing board to create better content, going back to the start to find my voice again. Check back next week to see my progress!
